About Strident

Strident makes and sells 'New Water,' defined as water made potable from non-potable water using zero emissions evaporation and condensation technology often called a Delta T device. We do this with a system which includes the Delta T device (see right column for more information) using clean, renewable geothermal energy as the only source for powering the desalination plan. All other desalination methods increase the carbon dioxide footprint of the city where they are used because they tap into the power grid, which used fossil fuels, so burns more to make the water.

The weather is shifting (why it is doing so remains unknown and debatable, but it historically sifts periodically) and this unknown is unsettling for cities and people dependent on water supplies for a strong economy. Warmer air means less snow pack on which cities depend for water supplies. Droughts become longer, water supplies diminish and people need more water, so they currently resolve this by burning more fuel to power more desalination facilities, and so on. The current weather shift could result in world wide competition for water resulting in world wide conflicts of enormous proportions.

Strident can make the water without adding to the carbon dioxide in the air and preserving the fossil carbons, and can do so inexpensively. No one else can. Strident is one of the few companies that can help with a looming problem caused by CO2 sequestration, the production of high saline waters coming out of the ground where CO2 is forced into the ground. These are no normal salts, they are carboxylate mineral salts resulting from CO2 interacting with water and minerals. There are few options in handling this.

If we use geothermal energy to power a desalination plant, then reduce the water to a heavier brine, we avoid making more CO2, and can recover these salts for other uses. See Professor Newcomb's site at ICATS for an illustration or discussion (right column).

Strident has the capability of replacing many of the world's most critical water supplies with affordable water using the unlimited supply of the oceans and the limited brackish water aquifers, and do so without damaging the environment. It can do so using private funds or public funds according to the needs of the municipality.
